HOW TO DRINK BOSNIAN COFFEE
Pour the coffee from the džezva (metal coffee pot) into the fildžan (ceramic cup).
Take a sugar cube, dip one side into the hot coffee, then let the wet part dissolve on your tongue.
Take a sip of coffee so when the coffee and sugar meet in your mouth there’s no bitterness.
You can also take small bites of rahat lokum (Bosnian candy) before each sip.
After each sip, drink water to cleanse your palate.
HOW TO READ YOUR CUP
After finishing your Bosnian coffee, leave a sip in the bottom, make a wish, and flip your cup onto its saucer.
Once the grounds settle and dry, the patterns inside become a tiny map of past, present, and future.
How to Interpret the Cup
Bottom: Your past
Middle: Your current moment
Rim: What’s ahead
The handle shows love and relationships,
the opposite side hints at money and opportunity.
